About Me

Who am I?

This is a question that has plagued philosophers and scholars for years, with no clear answer yet to be found. However, until such times as there can be concrete evidence of my nature and existence, lets just say that I am Aisla Houghton-Foster, a mid-30s, plus-size trans woman who lives in Liverpool, England.

I have always had an interest in writing, whether creatively or academically, and some might say that it runs in my blood in a way. My mother is a talented writer and loves to play around with words – inspiring me as a child, and my uncle John Foster is a children’s poet and author in Oxford!

I have a day job, working in student support and I love it. I am also currently training to be a qualified therapist/counsellor. I believe that creativity and empathy overlap significantly, and I am excited to see how I can bring these together as time goes on.

More and more as I get older, the itch of writing gets stronger and stronger. Creativity sparks wherever I go; words pop into my head unannounced and take up residence until noted down; I wake at night with great ideas that flit away from fleeting dreamscapes. In many ways, too, I don’t mind whether my writing is considered good or bad by others, so long as I enjoy it.

So here you are, on my website. Please enjoy and have a look around. Some pieces you may love, some you may hate. That’s fine. Feel free to give me some (kind, but honest) feedback – I would love to hear from you.
