I bring to mind a strange delight,
To dream, at once with you to soar
On golden beams of sunlit flight!

For as we watch you, drifting, left to right,
Sitting, laughing, as we see you bore
Face-first unto a flower’s delights,

You seem content, no cares in sight,
Pollen, nectar, all-you-can-eat galore,
Till away you amble on beams of sunlit flight.

But lo, at first you gave me such fright,
Your brethren’s sting I so abhor!
Yet you bring to mind a fond delight

As care-free bumbling thro’ the heights
Brought you to me and my amour
Through golden beams of sunlit flight.

Were I was you, forsaken might
of mankind’s cage of blood and gore,
I’d find enduring, true delight.
When dancing, golden, with you in sunlit flight.
